Alison's plastic-free pledge

At the February meeting Alison talked about her pledge not to bring home any plastic during January.

Her main issues were: a) forgetfulness – plastic is so prevalent and hard to avoid in the vast majority of shops unless you are always making a conscious effort b) finding alternatives – there were some products you’d have to do without as they are almost impossible to source with no plastic wrappings or containers c) expense – loose products not pre-wrapped can be a lot more expensive d) time – travelling to specialist shops, farm shops, Cut the Wrap etc takes more time and effort.

Alison’s wondered if there issues could put people off avoiding plastic if they were leading busy lives and/or being careful with money.

Members contributed some of their own experiences of avoiding plastic and finding alternatives.

It was a lively discussion!
